This goes out to all the hip hempers out there! And all the non-hempers, listen up, there’s a great reason why you should begin chowing down on those fantastic little seeds mmmmkay?
1. They’re so packed full of the omegas and phytosterol, it’s ridiculous to think that they shouldn’t be a part of your diet. Especially if you have cholesterol problems.
The ideal ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 is about 4:1, the exact balance you find in hemp seeds. Another important component in hemp hearts you may not know about, is that they contain phytosterals (plant sterols) . This sterol has been proven to lower cholesterol levels by as much as 13%.
2. They have tons of vitamins and minerals in them like vitamins E and B-6 and also contain calcium, potassium, magnesium, and iron.
3. Hemp seeds have an amazing little protein in it that is super digestible. That makes them a fantastic adition to any protein shake or salad or muffin or bread or…
4. Hemp, unlike it’s sister Marijuana, is delta-9 THC-free which means it doesn’t get you high when you eat the seeds.

There are other products besides the seeds as well. If you don’t like the taste of flax oil, try hemp oil. And hemp milk is my favorite dairy milk substitute! It has a thick creamy texture and it’s super yummy in cereal and tea 🙂
